Armed with her faith in God and blessed with a sense of humor, comedian Kathy Westfield shares her hilarious comedy routine on how she has weathered many of life’s storms. Touching on the challenges of this world that we all face, she shares her personal struggles while instilling hope in others.
Kathy has performed all over the country for many churches and organizations. She has been seen on television programs that include Good Morning America, an ABC World News Tonight segment featuring comedians, on Apollo Comedy Hour at the legendary Apollo Theatre, BET’s Comic View and was a $10,000 Grand Prize Winner on America’s Funniest People.
When I first got saved in 1987, I was so happy to have found God. I realized later on that He wasn’t lost…I was. Eventually I wandered back into the world however in 2000, I began to build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is when I really came to know Him. In maturing in my walk, I discovered that I didn’t choose God, God choose me.
Looking back on my life, my walk with Christ has brought me through so many difficulties and struggles. He has given me strength to deal with the pains, heartaches and disappointments of this world. And all along the way He has blessed me with a sense of humor and empowered me with the gift of laughter to help weather the storms. We’re reminded in Deuteronomy 31:6, “He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
However living through hard times many of us want to blame God for our difficulties. I’m a firm believer that He does not create our problems but uses them as an opportunity to bring us closer to Him. In my walk with Jesus Christ, I have learned faith. I have learned to trust God. I have learned to listen to God. I have learned the power of prayer. I have learned the true sense of joy. And most importantly, I have learned not to question God. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us: “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not upon your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
I am truly blessed to be able to share the humorous side of my life through comedy building hope in others while prayerfully giving Him the glory. What a wonderful testimony to be able to share about the powerful God we serve.
