Sean McDowell continues a family legacy of ministry in Christian education, apologetics and reaching the emerging generations. Sean graduated summa cum laude from Talbot Theological Seminary with a double master’s degree in theology and philosophy. He currently serves as head of the Bible department at Capistrano Valley Christian Schools, where he teaches entry-level apologetics and Old Testament survey. In Sean’s testimony, he tells of the experience he had growing up with his father, the legendary apologist Josh McDowell, when Sean admitted to harboring doubts about his faith. His father’s positive reaction surprised Sean, but Josh explained, “I think it’s great because…you don’t want to believe things just because you were told them. You need to find out if Christianity is true.” Sean says that’s exactly what he did, and he has since developed a passion for helping people see that all of life makes sense when viewed from a biblical perspective.A popular speaker at camps, churches, schools and conferences nationwide, Sean has keynoted for organizations including Focus on the Family, Campus Crusade for Christ, Youth Specialties and the Association of Christian Schools International. Sean has also appeared as a guest on radio shows such as Family Life, Focus on the Family, Point of View, The Frank Pastore Show, The Michael Reagan Show, Stand to Reason and more. Sean co-authored the book, Understanding Intelligent Design and The Credible Resurrection. Sean is currently compiling a new book, Apologetics for a New Generation. Sean also wrote Ethix: Being Bold in a Whatever World and compiled Josh McDowell’s Youth Ministry Handbook. Sean was also contributor to Passionate Conviction, an apologetics book compiled by William Lane Craig and Paul Copan. He served as general editor for The Apologetics Study Bible for Teens. Sean has also contributed to YouthWorker Journal, Decision Magazine and the Christian Research Journal, and he writes regular columns for the Christian Worldview Network and Planet Wisdom.
