Flash Editor Troubleshooting Guide

Windows (Version 7+)

If you’re running a Windows OS older than 7, try uninstalling Flash through add/remove programs, then install the latest version of Flash (https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) before troubleshooting via your browser.

Chrome (Version 56.xxx)

If your browser is a lower version of Chrome, try upgrading your browser first. On the Chrome menu, click ‘Help’ and then ‘About Google Chrome’ and a new window will pop up with your Version listed. There should be an update button there.

TO INSTALL / ENABLE FLASH:

  1. In the address bar, type "chrome:plugins" to open the Plugins page.
  2. Find the Adobe Flash Player listing and select ‘Always allowed to run’
  3. Click on the browser menu bar in the upper right corner of the browser window.
  4. Click on ‘Settings’
  5. Click on the ‘Show advanced settings…’ link at page bottom.
  6. Under ‘Privacy’, click on the ‘Content settings…’ button.
  7. Under ‘Flash’, click the 'Manage Exceptions..." button and type in [*.]outreach.com and select "Allow" or,
  8. Under ‘Flash’, select ‘Allow sites to run Flash’ and click done and close the settings window.
  9. Refresh Editor Window.
 

Mozilla Firefox (Version 52.xxx)

If your browser is a lower version of Firefox, try upgrading your browser first. From the Help menu, click ‘About Firefox’ and a popup window will display the version. There should be an update button there.

TO INSTALL FLASH

Flash is either not installed on your browser or has been disabled by the browser.

  1. Download latest version of Flash: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
  2. Close out all Firefox windows and re-navigate to your Editor

TO ENABLE FLASH:

  1. In the top menu, choose Tools > Add-ons or on the main menu (the three dark grey bars), select Add-ons.
  2. Select Plugins.
  3. In the list of Add-ons, look for Shockwave Flash and check the status that appears to the right of the plug-in name.
  4. Select Always Activate.
  5. Close the dialog box.
  6. Close all Firefox windows, restart your browser, and re-navigate to the editor.
 

Edge (Version 14.xxx)

If your browser is not up-to-date, try upgrading your browser first. On the menu, click ‘About [your browser]’ to check the version number.

TO INSTALL FLASH / ENABLE FLASH:

  1. Click on the menu icon in upper right corner of the browser window.
  2. Click on ‘Settings’ at the bottom of the window
  3. Click on ‘View advanced settings’
  4. Turn on ‘Use Adobe Flash Player’
  5. Refresh Editor Window
 

Internet Explorer (Version 11.xxx)

If your browser is a lower version of IE, try upgrading your browser first. From the IE menu, ‘About Internet Explorer’ and a popup window will display the version.

TO INSTALL FLASH

Flash is either not installed on your browser or has been disabled by the browser.

  1. Download latest version of Flash: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
  2. Close out all Internet Explorer windows and re-navigate to your Editor

TO ENABLE FLASH:

  1. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the browser window.
  2. In the pop-up menu that appears, click Manage Add-ons.
  3. In the dialog box that appears, select Toolbars and Extensions.
  4. In the list of Add-ons, click on “Shockwave Flash Object” (another name for Flash Player).
  5. In the lower-right corner of the Manage Add-ons dialog box, click Enable.
  6. Close the Manage Add-ons dialog box.
  7. Refresh Editor Window.

Mac

Safari on Yosemite (Version 10.0.xxx)

We do not currently support Capitan or Sierra. If your browser is a lower version of Safari, try upgrading your browser first: go to the Appstore and check for updates. On the Safari menu, click “About Safari,” and a dialog box will pop up with your Version listed.

TO INSTALL FLASH:

Flash is either not installed on your browser or has been disabled by the browser.

  1. On the Safari menu, click “Preferences”
  2. In the Preferences dialog box, click on the “Security” tab
  3. Make sure Allow Plug-ins is checked
  4. Click on Plug-in Settings…
  5. Adobe Flash Player should be shown in the left hand sidebar with a version number
    • Check the box to turn it on
    • Update the settings on the right to Allow sites to use “On” or “Ask”
    • Make sure the setting for outreach.com is “On”
  6. If Adobe Flash Player does not appear in the sidebar
    • Download latest version of Flash: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    • Restart your browser: On the Safari menu, click Quit Safari, then reopen the Safari browser
    • Re-navigate to your editor
    • The editor should now load
    • If the editor fails to load, refresh the page
    • If the editor still fails to load, read on for instructions to approve Flash for Outreach.com

TO ENABLE FLASH:

Your Flash settings are set to ask you every time you need to run Flash or the Flash Player is turned off altogether.

  1. If your browser asks ‘Do you want to trust the website “outreach.com” to use the “Adobe Flash Player” plug-in?’
    • Click “Trust”
    • The editor should load; do not navigate away from page
    • If editor does not reload, refresh the page
    • If the editor still does not load, shut down and restart your browser
  2. If your browser does not ask and the editor fails to load
    • On the Safari menu, click “Preferences”
    • In the Preferences dialog box, click on the “Security” tab
    • Make sure Allow Plug-ins is checked
    • Click on Plug-in Settings…
    • Make sure Adobe Flash Player is checked
    • Click on it to show websites settings
    • On Currently Open Websites, change the setting for outreach.com to “On” or “Always Allow”
    • Click Done
    • Refresh the editor page
    • If the editor does not load, shut down and restart your browser
