Connecting in an Overly Connected World

Share

The world is more connected than ever before. With the average person spending around 2 hours a day on Social Media, scrolling, liking, commenting and sharing the latest trends, gossip, and viral video….it’s easy to see that we have become a society of connection.

With all this connection it would be logical to think that we, as humans, feel more connected than we ever have before. But the truth is quite contrary to what you might think.
According to a recent study, depression is on the rise across the board in the United States. Not just with young people, but every age demographic saw an increase in depression and general anxiety through 2018.

This means that, even though we are more connected than ever before, there seems to be a disconnect happening. The interactions we are having online are not enough…or maybe they simply lack substance of something that our souls crave.

Enter: Jesus. Jesus had some pretty incredible things to say when it comes to the human condition and our desire to have more, be liked, and to keep up with the latest trends. He kept the Gospel message pretty straight forward, and welcomed anyone who resonated with the life He offers to join Him in his journey.

Now we, followers of Jesus, are on this journey and have been mandated to invite those who we come into contact with along for the ride. Jesus’ command was that we would carry this Gospel message from Judea to Samaria and to the ends of the Earth. How prophetic of Jesus to know that “the ends of the Earth” would shrink so much in the 21st century.

We are now able to reach around the globe in the blink of an eye. Information can travel literally all over planet Earth in less than a second. Let us take up this mandate and use our digital platforms for the glory and renown of Jesus!

An easy way to get started in sharing Jesus online is to begin sharing regularly on your social networks. If your church has a Facebook Page and/or Twitter Profile, Outreach Social makes it easy to engage the world for Christ without adding a lot to your already full plate.

With a few clicks of a button, you can set up your automatic posts to happen every day at a specific time…you select the categories and we take care of the rest. It really is that simple.
