Lance Lang has devoted his life to inspiring hope in those suffering from addiction, sharing his own journey from addiction to brokenness to freedom. From growing up as a pastor’s son under the watchful eye of small-town America to leading a $30 million project management firm at the age of 25, pressure to perform and live up to others’ expectations was a way of life for Lance. As the heaviness of these burdens grew, Lance turned to drugs and alcohol to keep up, creating a years-long cycle of abuse and addiction that destroyed his hope and left him in a reclusive, depressive state he thought would be his life forever. But God had a different plan! Lance’s pull to sobriety is nothing short of a miracle. God pursued him and in a moment’s notice and changed everything in his life.
Since getting clean & sober, Lance has gone on to inspire thousands of others to do the same. He is a four-time author, speaks hundreds of times each year & is recognized as a leading voice in the recovery community nationally.
In October of 2012, Lance founded Hope is Alive Ministries. Today, HIA has ten faith-based, sober living homes filled with men and women working to radically change their lives. Hope is Alive is the largest faith-based sober living organization in the United States and offers a long-term, purpose driven, proven program that has produced hundreds of stories of life change!

Principals / Educators / Treatment Centers:
“Lance Lang brings compassion, encouragement and hope when he comes to speak to our clients. Through sharing his personal experience of recovery he provides a relentless example of “hope in action”. Lance is an engaging speaker who connects easily with people of all ages, instilling in them the motivation and conference that recovery is possible!’
-Karen Walker, Executive Director, Oakwood Springs Treatment Center
"We were privileged to have Lance Lang, founder of Hope is Alive Ministries, as a guest speaker in our weekly chapel service. Based on personal knowledge of the ministry, we anticipated that his story would make an impact with our community, what we did not anticipate is the power of that encounter. As Lance began to share, it was clear that our students, faculty, and staff were tuned into his story. By sharing his story in such a human way, he was able to amplify the goodness of God to meet us in our darkest and most broken places. This message is relevant for every person in every situation. While his message was one of drug addiction, it easily translated into all areas of human striving where we want to have control instead of surrender to God. I cannot recommend Lance more highly as a speaker for students and people of all ages. He will connect and God will use his story to transform."
-Jessica Rimmer, Vice President for Student Engagement and Success, Mid-America Christian University
“I really appreciate the message that Lance brought to our students. We are trying to overcome the popular social mentality of "It's just Marijuana!" Lance reinforced our message to students that "gateway" drugs lead you down a road you don't want to go. He gave them his very personal life experiences as an example of what "not to do", while giving them hope for a better future even if they have already started down that wrong path!”
- Bryan Brantley, High School Principal
The Students gave him a standing ovation! It was such a powerful assembly!"
- James Willyard, Assistant Police Chief & Assembly Organizer
“Lance Lang did an excellent job of grabbing our students attention! His message hit home with many of them and I know it will make a huge impact in their life and future decisions. The students were extremely quiet and attentive so that tells me they were listening! Every school needs to have Lance Lang come share his powerful story!”
- Principal Cory Slagle, Tahlequah High School
